Here Comes Mustafa
Charismatic and controversial activist, Mustafa Majeed takes on institutionalized racism in this cross between the film Roger & Me and the Cops TV series. Corporate criminals beware, Mustafa is coming to the defense of those who can not defend themselves. Mustafa Majeed Activist Mustafa Majeed has been an activist in the Construction, Motion Picture, and Television industries for over 20 years, identifying and fighting against institutional racism and prejudiced hiring practices. He has fought for the rights of Blacks and Latinos as well as other minority groups wherever he has found widespread discrimination. Born and raised in Harlem, NY, Mustafa began his activist career with the Fight Back Organization, which fought for jobs for people of color in the construction industry. He soon found that racism was just as rampant in the Motion Picture and Television industries. What he found especially unforgiving was the discrimination he saw on the production of big-budget pictures that film in predominantly Black or Latino neighborhoods. One response was to become involved in the Communications Industry Skills Center to train people of color in the various fields of directors, producers, makeup artists, cameramen and women, as well as a variety of other fields. Another approach has been to tackle the racism head-on, by preventing all-white film crews from filming in New York, especially, predominantly Black and Latino neighborhoods, without hiring people of color. He has accomplished this goal with the aid of legal precedent, and some very big men. Many in the Motion Picture and Television industries have feared Mustafa because of his "Shaka Zulu" approach. While Mustafa has concentrated his fight in the New York City area, he plans to expand his efforts nationwide. Watch out, "A New Sheriff Is In Town." |
